Have to share...

Being the mother of triplets is a constant learning experience. Constant. As a first time mommy, there was SOOOO much I didn't know when they were born. And um....well, thirteen years in, there is still so very much I do not know.

But I have learned a thing or two. Like, how even though they arrived in a bundle, my kids very much like time alone with me and Daddy. Very much. So this weekend, when Claire had to perform all the way across town, Wade and I made the decision to leave the other kids with Uncle Lenny and have some time with JUST Claire. We had a delightful night and like I said, I have learned how important this is. And yet, I was surprised....

Because yesterday, sweet Cate had to be downtown all afternoon for Nutcracker rehearsal. I did not want to be too far away so I decided to stay right around the theater. Claire joined me and after dropping Cate off, we went to have Mommy and Daughter lunch. Again, a rare treat. And I know that. I do. I knew she would be delighted. I knew and yet...when this sweet 13-year-old looked at me and said,

"Mommy, first I got time with you and Daddy all by myself on Friday and now THIS. I really think Christmas has come early. I don't need anything else."

I wanted to cry. Because I didn't know it was THAT big a deal.

But now I do. What a blessing.

Carol, you are such an amazing person (mom) and your kids are so blessed to have you (and Wade!) :) Love the Christmas picture!

Now I want to cry!! I watch so many of the boys friends begging for attention from their parents. It breaks my heart. Even at 18, Austin and I enjoy grabbing a lunch alone.

The best birthday present Matt has given me was time to be with each of my kids individually. It is a huge blessing! Have an amazing Christmas.
