Therapy, less pain and Mr. Rogers...

Yesterday, Mason woke up a completely different kid...oh, he was still in pain....but his attitude was amazingly improved. And that was good because yesterday, he started his physical therapy workout.

With his complete permission, I snapped some photos. I really want to document his progress so that he can SEE how far he comes each day!

His physical therapist, Tami, is amazing. She has exactly the spirit my boy needs her to have to push him through and over this hump. In the above photo, she is helping him feel his muscles firing as we re-teach his legs how to work.

Yesterday was fairly easy for him, as Tami was just getting him used to moving a little at a time. But on the same hand, he made some huge strides in bending his right leg -- and we were able to see marked improvement when she measured his angles before and after therapy!

Therapy did leave him exhausted and so later when he asked if he could be moved to the room where I was working, I thought it was because he was tired....until he said, "Mom, I understand now why Benjamin calls for you so much at night." (Because if you know us, you know that Benjamin NEEDS me about 12 million times a night...) I said, "Really? Why?" To which he replied, "Because it is so calming to be where you are. You are like Mr. Rogers."

So there. If you need me, I'll be changing my shoes, and putting on a cardigan...cause I am certain there is a blessing in there. I am certain.

...there are no words to respond appropriately, Carol. You are so blessed. There's a huge lump in my throat, in my chest. That Mason, that Mason...

Hey Mom!
I totally agree with Mason... you are so calming... even more than Mr.Rogers!! (Though, if you'll go back a few years I did used to say when Mr.Rogers talked it felt like someone was rubbing my neck!) Being a mom is the perfect job for you- I'm so glad you're mine!!Luv ya! Claire
