Are you smarter than a fifth grader?

The big kids are learning about Cinquains this week -- a form of poetry with five lines and a rhythm of 2, 4, 6, 8, 2. I am a totally biased mommy (never doubt that) but I thought they did a great job and so, with their permission, I have to share! Enjoy!

Sweet Sun,
Bonnets flowing,
Flowers sway in the breeze,
Apple pie aroma drifting,
Little House.

Music --
Lots of fun songs --
Loud drums making cool beats.
Big star singing my favorite songs,
Concert!!

Pluto --
Hyper, Happy,
Sitting on the cold tile,
Wagging his tail when so joyful,
Our dog!

Now Claire did not want to NOT write about her sweet puppy as well...so motivated by Mason, she wrote the following:
Pluto --
happy, kind eyes,
His fur as soft as silk,
His breath as sweet as fresh, warm pie,
My Pup.

I am counting my poets as three tremendous blessings -- ever grateful am I that God has trusted me with these -- and their baby sister! Have a blessed day!

Hey Benjamin, Mason and Claire,

You guys are posting some awesome poetry. I am so impressed that you have all mastered the cinquain. Now try a villanelle. ;-)

Keep writing!
